FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Since this is a destination wedding, we’re planning travel, venues, and accommodations well in advance. A soft RSVP helps us estimate attendance and tailor the week so we can help everyone have the best possible experience while planning their travel.

This is not a final commitment! We’ll collect formal RSVPs later this year.

Thank you for helping us plan!

  • We recommend booking your flight 7-9 months before the wedding date. Cape Town offers many different flight route options, but booking in advance will help secure better pricing.

For more information surrounding travel, please visit our Travel page.

  • We recommend flying into Cape Town International Airport (CPT). The airport is centrally located and approximately a 30-minute drive from Camps Bay, where we encourage everyone to stay. If you plan to go on a safari before or after the wedding, you may also consider flying through O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB).

  • Assuming you are a U.S. citizen, no visa is required to visit South Africa. Please ensure your passport does not expire within 60 days of your departure date.

  • Wedding events will begin the evening of March 14, 2027, so we recommend arriving in Cape Town by that afternoon. This gives you time to ease into the celebrations without feeling rushed.

If you’re able to arrive a day or two earlier, even better! It’s a great way to adjust to the time change and start exploring before the week’s events kick off.

TRAVEL & FLIGHTS

  • We recommend staying in Camps Bay. This beautiful coastal neighborhood is centrally located and provides easy access to explore all that Cape Town has to offer.

Please visit our Travel page to view recommended Airbnb and hotel options.

  • Please check back for more details as the wedding date approaches. We are currently exploring possible hotel room blocks and will share additional information soon.

  • As soon as your attendance is confirmed, we recommend booking your accommodation. There are plenty of options in Camps Bay and the surrounding areas, so there is no need to worry about availability. However, to secure your preferred Airbnb or boutique hotel, the sooner you book, the better.

ACCOMMODATIONS

  • Uber is a reliable transportation option in South Africa. We recommend requesting Uber Black for a more comfortable experience. Please keep in mind that cars in South Africa are typically smaller, so if you are traveling with a large group or a significant amount of luggage, you may need to request multiple vehicles compared to what you might expect in the U.S.

If you would prefer to use a car service, we recommend using EZ Shuttle for easy, seamless airport transfers.

  • Yes! Uber is available and reliable. We recommend requesting Uber Black.

  • We recommend using car-sharing services, such as Uber, while visiting South Africa.

TRANSPORTATION

  • Planning is in full swing! Check back in a few months for more details.

  • While we’d love to accommodate kids, we request that this remains an adults-only event.

  • If your invitation was addressed to you and a guest, then yes! If a plus one was not indicated on your invitation, we kindly ask that you attend solo.

WEDDING WEEKEND

  • South Africa uses the South African Rand (ZAR). Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, wineries, and shops, but it’s always helpful to have a little cash on hand for tips, small purchases, or local markets.

  • It hovers around R16 to $1.

  • English is the most widely spoken language in South Africa, but you may also hear Afrikaans and other languages.

  • South Africa is on South Africa Standard Time (SAST), which is 7 hours ahead of Eastern Time and 9 hours ahead of Mountain Time.

HEALTH & PRACTICALITIES

  • Cape Town in March marks the transition from Summer to Autumn. Typical daytime temperatures are around 70°F, dropping to about 50°F in the evenings. Being on the coast, a light breeze may also be present.

  • Yes, South Africa uses Type M and Type C plugs. If you plan to use hair tools or other high-power electronics, be sure to bring adapters for proper voltage conversion.

PACKING & PREPARATION

  • March is a wonderful time to visit South Africa. The earlier you book and confirm your safari experience, the better. We are currently finalizing which lodge we will be visiting in the Eastern Cape. However, if you plan to stay at a different lodge, bookings for March 2027 are already being accepted.

  • The good news - there are so many wonderful options. The bad news - there are so many wonderful options!

Be sure to visit our Experience page for our Safari recommendations in both Kruger National Park and the Eastern Cape.

  • If you choose to go on a safari in the Kruger, your lodge will coordinate your airport transfers. Typically, you will fly into Hoedspruit (HDS) or Skukuza (SZK), and a lodge representative will meet you and drive you to your accommodation. Be sure to confirm transfer arrangements with your lodge before booking any internal flights.

Similarly, for a safari in the Eastern Cape, you can take a short flight from Cape Town (CPT) to Port Elizabeth (PLZ) or East London (ELS), and your lodge will arrange your transfer from the airport.

  • In the Kruger, daytime temperatures typically range from 80-90°F, cooling to around 70°F at night. Early morning and evening game drives can be breezy, so layering is essential. Many lodges also have pools, so don’t forget a swimsuit to enjoy the amenities!

In the Eastern Cape, daytime temperatures are usually around 80°F, with cooler mornings and evenings near 65°F. Pack layers that can be easily added or removed as the temperatures change throughout the day.

When choosing outfits, opt for neutral, earthy tones like khaki, olive, tan, and soft browns to blend in with the natural surroundings and avoid bright colors or bold patterns.

  • Ideally, we recommend spending three nights or more at a game lodge, which allows for two full days and six game drives. We understand that time or budget constraints may make this difficult. If that’s the case, even two nights will provide a fantastic safari experience leaving you wanting to go back!
