GO ON A HIKE
Lion’s Head: One of the most popular hikes in Cape Town is Lion’s Head. It’s a challenging but rewarding hike and is an excellent sunrise or sunset spot! The hike is 3.4 miles round-trip with 360 views of Cape Town.
Kloof Corner: Only a 20-minute hike up the slopes of Table Mountain, this is one of the best short hikes in the city. Pack some drinks and enjoy a sundowner while overlooking Camps Bay. The hike is 1.5 miles round-trip with 360 views of Cape Town.
Kasteelspoort (Table Mountain via Camps Bay): A quieter, scenic ascent up the western slopes, complete with the iconic “diving board” rock. Expect a steady climb and sweeping ocean vistas.
HIT THE BEACH
Cape Town is home to many beautiful beaches. The most famous beaches are Clifton 2nd and Clifton 4th because of their white-sand, turquoise waters, and granite boulders.
Camps Bay Beach offers a magnificent backdrop of the Twelve Apostles Mountains and a palm tree-lined promenade, making it a great spot to grab dinner and watch the sunset.
TAKE THE CABLE CAR UP TABLE MOUNTAIN
This is a must-do! Choose the day with the best weather & visibility to take the Cable Car up to the top of Table Mountain - especially if you don’t plan to hike it! This is a great place to watch the sunset in Cape Town, but it will be most crowded at that time.
GO ON A ZIPLINE CANOPY TOUR
Experience the breathtaking Cape mountainscapes while ziplining through the forest canopies just outside Cape Town. Guided tours take you from platform to platform high above the valley floor, combining incredible views with a fun, adrenaline-filled adventure. It’s an exciting way to take in the region’s natural beauty from a completely different perspective.
VISIT THE CAPE WINELANDS
The Cape Winelands are known for their rolling vineyards, dramatic mountain backdrops, and world-class wine estates. Spend the day wine tasting in charming towns like Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, enjoy a long lunch overlooking the vines, and take in some of the most beautiful scenery in the region. It’s a relaxed and scenic escape that pairs perfectly with a leisurely afternoon.

EXPLORE THE V&A WATERFRONT
Home to a large shopping mall, a working marina, and dozens of restaurants, the V&A Waterfront is a great place to walk around and explore at your own pace. You can grab lunch overlooking the harbor, browse local shops, or simply stroll along the water with Table Mountain in the background.
VISIT ROBBEN ISLAND
Robben Island is a historic site just off the coast of Cape Town, best known as the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 18 years. Tours depart from the V&A Waterfront and include a guided visit of the island and prison. It’s a meaningful experience and an important part of South Africa’s history. Be sure to book tickets in advance, as tours often sell out.
GO SKYDIVING
Seeking some adrenaline? Go skydiving and take in an unforgettable aerial view of Cape Town, the sea, Table Mountain, and beyond. It’s an incredible way to experience the scale and beauty of the coastline, but be sure to book in advance - and cross your fingers for a clear day!
VISIT BO-KAAP NEIGHBORHOOD
Bo-Kaap dates back to the 18th century and is one of Cape Town’s most historically significant neighborhoods. Originally home to enslaved people brought to the Cape, the area became a symbol of freedom after emancipation, when residents painted their homes in bright, celebratory colors.
Today, it’s a beautiful place to explore on foot, learn about its Cape Malay heritage, and experience some of the city’s most distinctive culinary traditions.
STROLL KIRSTENBOSCH NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDENS
Cape Town is home to one of the most acclaimed botanical gardens in the world. Set against the slopes of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch is a wonderful place to learn about South Africa’s indigenous flora while enjoying a peaceful walk through beautifully maintained gardens and mountain scenery.
DRIVE THE COAST
Take a scenic drive along the Cape Peninsula to the Cape of Good Hope, where dramatic cliffs meet the ocean. The route itself is part of the experience with breathtaking coastal views throughout. Along the way, visit Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town to see the resident African penguin colony up close. It’s a beautiful half- or full-day outing and one of the most memorable drives in South Africa.
